Fundraising Guide

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is the premiere fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, which is all about communities. That’s why Bowl For Kids’ Sake asks its participants to work within its communities to raise money for the important cause of improving children’s lives.

There is no fee to participate in Bowl For Kids’ Sake but each team and each team member are asked to set goals to help support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa. Those goals can be raised individually or by raising awareness and asking for donations from friends, coworkers, neighbors and relatives.

Here are some guidelines for successful Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraising.

1. Set an Impactful Goal

We want everyone to participate in Bowl For Kids’ Sake so we don’t set a minimum fundraising goal but we do recommend that every individual try to raise $125 and every team raise $500. However, you can decide how to push yourself and remember, you can always extend your goal if you go over. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa wouldn’t be anywhere without overachievers.

2. Get a Strategy

There are many ways to ask your friends and colleagues to help you on your goal. Social media, emails or a good old fashioned phone call are all great ways to let people know that you are doing your part to improve the lot of central Iowa’s youth and they can help too. Make sure to refer them to the donation page and inform them of your team name so they know how to help.

3. Hit Them With the Facts

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa is all about helping kids. Get familiar with our services and let your friends know that any contribution goes a long way to helping Iowa’s children. A $25 donation supports a match between a volunteer mentor and an at-risk youth for a week. Every donation helps us make better futures.
